To Have Bangs, or Not to Have Bangs

That, is the question.

I just recently dyed my hair. I'm including a before, and after shot. And no, the first one was not my natural color. I've been dying my hair since I was 13. I'm not sure I know my natural color any more.. It's brown, but I'm not sure if its light or dark or somewhere in between..

Before

After

( I realize looking at these pictures my hair color looks very similar. It is lighter in the first picture. It was more of a light brownish read with almost blondish highlights. The second picture, my hair is much darker and has no highlights..)

This is the longest my hair has been in years! When I was 16 I cut all my hair off. I mean super boy short, cut it all off. Once it grew out of my horrible short boy cut, I had kept it between chin and shoulder length. I have always wanted to have my hair all one length. I am finally there, 10 years later.

And now I want bangs. But here's the thing. I keep my hair parted in the middle so the forehead length bangs won't work for me (it would take forever to train my bangs to not part in the middle). I kind of want the layered bangs look, anyone know what I'm talking about? Where it frames your face, and is okay to part in the middle?

But here's the other part of the debate, I don't want to cut my hair. It has taken me so long to get it this long. I have not had a hair cut in 2 1/2 years (except for a small trim a year ago).

So, here's where you, anyone reading this, come in. What do you think? Should I keep letting it grow out, or try the bangs thing?

You know, I'm not very good with hair. Most of the time I just throw my hair up in a ponytail so I don't have to worry about it during the day. Whenever I feel like a change I go to a hair salon and say 'help, I know nothing about hair, fix me please' and they usually end up giving me a kind of layered bob thing with bangs framing my face. My hair is really flat and thin otherwise.

I say go for the bangs. Whoever cuts your hair doesn't have to cut too much off, you won't lose that much length. Also, I quite like your hair with that reddish tint from the first photo!

I think it would great to try bangs. I just got a new haircut/color on Friday and am trying out bangs and straight hair for the first time . It is hard to get used to but I need the change.
p.s. your haircolor is pretty :) (picture#2)

When I see people with long hair like yours and they get bangs, it makes such a difference. I like bangs, it's hard to go wrong with them. A good stylist will help you with the training part!!

BANGS! Go for it! Reply to my post from your e-mail and I'll e-mail you a possible inspiration photo. Oh and as far as the blog help, there are two sites I recommend. Go to my blog --click on ads if you want :)--shameless plug. On the left sidebar there is a solid pink button for blog template. That is where I got my free 3 column template (and she has tutorials). She says you need mozilla for her downloads but she gives you the link. Also on the left colum is a black button with white for Sneaky Mom. She has some basic and easy html help for formatting a 3 column l/o. Good luck! Let me know when you finish it!

go for it! i think blunt cut bangs would look good. it wouldn't take long to retrain them... a few days at most as long as you blow dry them down while they are wet.

get bangs. you will look alot better.but listen to this. after all my hair experiences, ive found that people with small narrow eyes look good with short bangs just above your eyes. if you have bigger eyes, like me, then i would cut them below your eyes and sweep them to the side. dont cut them too thin either. i made that mistake, too.
